What I read in November 2011: Digest Version, part 3 of 3

b Natsume's Book of Friends 9: Oh, Natsume.  I hear the theme song in my head when I read you.  I love your characters, your stories, your world.  I love the fact that I may actually get to own you on DVD.

b NG Life 8-9: What a lovely and solid ending to this story.  It's really one of the better resolutions I've ever read in a manga.  The things I wanted to know became known, and there were some twists I hadn't expected.  And things in the present got resolved in a non-obnoxious and not too neat way.  This series was really a gem, funny and touching all the way through (in different proportions).  Thank you again, nice people at Tokyopop for making sure the last volume came out.

b Otomen 5: Oh, the silliness and the cleverness and, let's be honest, the dumbness.  There's just something genius about this series if you're in the right mood for it and have correct expectations.

b Silver Diamond 5-9: Oh, Tokyopop, the sale at Barnes & Noble was a lovely parting gift you had no responsibility for, but it was nice to be able to pick up most of this series and re-read it when I wasn't feeling cynical.  The Power of Nice might be able to save the world, but I'll never know how without a license rescue.  I think this was a popular series for them, so I would love for someone to pick up with volume 10 . . .

b Vassalord 1-3:  This series is kind of a mess, but it makes more sense the second time through, for some reason.  Sort of.  It's definitely not for everyone, but I liked this artist's other series that was kind of a mess (Peacemaker), so maybe it's an acquired taste?

b xxxHolic 17:  This series is so somber and melancholy now that Watanuki's not flailing around all the time.  His relationship with his friends (Himawari and the psychic girl and Domeki and the spirits) and clients is very fraught.  The art is, as usual, beautiful and evocative, and I really want to know how this is going to "end."

b Yurara 1, 3: I do prefer Rasetsu, but there's a lot in Yurarara that got me interested in Chika Shiomi's work and made Rasetsu the more satisfying experience that it was.  :)
