Cosplayers vs. Fanfic Writers

I'm a huge Patrick Rothfuss fan because he writes most excellent fantasy.  He is aware of the anime/manga fan community (aware enough to be searching for yaoi fanart using his characers). I thought this bit was interesting because I'm curious if this same hierarchy exists in anime fandom.

The whole post is pretty funny, and his cosplay fans are incredible.  (Also, he can be kind of a doofus sometimes, but he owns up to it.)  Be sure to check out their book.
